“BUT ACTUALLY,
SORRY I CARE” EP
Strike Audio, a music label specializing in licensing & sync deals for TV, signed me to complete a 5-song EP, which would be included in their music library and pitched to television shows.
Nothing about BASIC was basic!
I partnered with Filipino artist & producer Johann Regaya to create the songs. Once each song was approved by the label, we looped in an engineer to mix and master the project. I decided on the EP title “But Actually, Sorry I Care” (BASIC for short), as it embodies my emotional head space surrounding some of the topics discussed, such as generational trauma, corporate culture, and modern relationships. Despite some run-ins with Murphy’s Law, we finalized the EP and officially released it November 3, 2023!
The EP cover is the product of Thy Hoang, a talented graphic designer who is responsible for much of my recent artwork. She took my initial creative concept and executed it to perfection, giving the project a look that reflects the sound and themes.
